In 1995 Reverend Zenko N.Okimura Shihan founded the Aikikai Foundation of Delaware (also known as Kiyo Mizu Kai), to share Japan's unique culture and heritage with anyone interested. The Aikido Delaware Aikikai Dojo of Newark, Delaware, a dojo Shihan opened in 2005, continues to graciously offer us space to conduct our business, meetings, and many of our events; some of which are jointly sponsored with the dojo. The purpose of this meetup is to give local Frederick internal martial artists (aikido, taiji, bagua, xingyi, tongbei, daito ryu, i-liq quan, etc.) an out-of-class opportunity to practice partner work. This may include but is not limited to exercises such as: Ki tests, connection work, jin exercises, push hands, etc. In short, anything that requires a willing partner to provide some amount of resistance.
